Synopsis
Biela is a shy country girl who lives with her father and helps him in the family's farm. When her father dies, she moves to her cousin's house in the village and he becomes her tutor and state administrator. His wife (Eliane Giardini), genuinely warm and well-intentioned, attempts to help Biela adapt to the town's social life, trying to transform the very rough country bumpkin into some resemblance of a city girl. But, Biela only feels at ease in the company of her element, the simple and rustic hired help. She even insists in taking her meals in the servant's cantine, and enventually wants to move into the domestics' sleeping quarters. Meanwhile, she meets Modesto with whom she starts a relationship. Soon after, the young man goes away and does not return leaving Biela humiliated and miserable. One day, when she rescues a stray dog on the street, she finally starts to follow, and stick to, her own "secret" way of life.

Sinopsis
Biela es una chical del campo que vive con su padre y le ayuda en el trabajo de la granja. A la muerte de su padre, ella se muda a la casa de su primo quien es tambien su tutor y administrator de su herencia. Su esposa (Eliane Giardini), cariñosa y voluntariosa, trata de que Biela se adapte a su nueva vida y que llegue a ser una chica de ciudad. Biela solo se siente cómoda en compania de los sirvientes al punto de que insite en ir a vivir con ellos. Entre tanto, Biela se conoce con Modesto y comiensa una relación un tanto forzada. Un tiempo despues, el joven amante se va y no regresa mas al pueblo dejando a Biela humillada y miserable. Despues de un tiempo, Biela rescata a un perro vagabundo y comienza a vivir otra vida, su vida "secreta."
